CCLA Wraps Up Successful LINCCWeb Beta Preview; Readies New LINCCWeb for Activation
Students, faculty and library staff at Florida's 28 colleges participated in a 6-week preview of CCLA's new LINCCWeb interface during May and early June. The new interface, which is currently in beta development, is based on Ex Libris' Primo discovery tool. The beta preview period provided a unique opportunity for LINCCWeb users to test drive the interface and provide feedback that will assist CCLA in the product's continued refinement. During June and July, CCLA will analyze the feedback and work with its advisory process to determine opportunities for further refinement. In July, CCLA will also offer a Charter program for colleges interested in early activation of the new interface for their students.
CCLA Upgrades LINCC Library Management System Software to Aleph v.19
CCLA has successfully upgraded its LINCC library management system software to Aleph verion 19. Highlighting the software is a fully integrated course reserves module. CCLA provided regional instructor-led training to library staff on the new course reserves module, along with live webcasts to familiarize library staff with the software's enhancements.
Lake City CC's Morris Voted Advisory Board Chair-elect
CCLA's Advisory Board voted Jim Morris, Executive Director of Library Community Services at Lake City Community College, as Advisory Board Chair-elect at its June 2009 annual meeting. Following his one-year term as Chair-elect, Morris will assume the position of Advisory Board Chair beginning July 1, 2010. Also during the meeting, Chair-elect Deborah Robinson, Director of Libraries at St. Petersburg College, assumed duties as CCLA Advisory Board Chair, through June 30, 2010.
The CCLA Advisory Board also made the following appointments to its Executive Committee. All appointments are two-year terms beginning July 1, 2009; entries with an asterisk indicate one-year terms.
