Our Goals
At CCLA we pride ourselves on doing what we say we'll do.
Each year we set specific, measurable goals and then work hard each day to achieve them. Some are short term goals that we plan to accomplish during that year, while others are longer term goals designed to grow our products and services and position CCLA and LINCC to meet the educational challenges of tomorrow. Each year we carefully examine and adjust our goals to ensure that each one supports our mission.
Goals for 2011-2012:
Provide access to shared information resources.
Specific objectives:
- Identify and address resource sharing issues and opportunities among LINCC institutions.
- Continue collaborative development of the statewide core collection of eResources.
- Ensure that LINCC information resources are discoverable and deliverable at the point of user need as an integral component of the educational process.
- Follow user-centered design best practices to continue development of the next
generation LINCCWeb and the LINCC library management system.
- Enhance the LINCC database of college library resources through holdings added, ongoing processing, and quality control efforts.
- Enhance and expand the user experience of LINCCWeb through user-centered design and state-of-the-art features and functionality.
Ensure continuing library development through the effective use of technology, training, support and consultation, seeking the most sustainable models of delivery.
Specific objectives:
- Continue to develop and improve CCLA consultation services to assist libraries in effective use of library-related technologies.
- Continue to develop and improve CCLA training and education programs to meet the needs of libraries and staff in a changing information environment.
- Encourage and facilitate library leadership development.
- Support the standardization and enhancement of statistical gathering methods to improve library management information.
- Support outcomes assessment and management information analysis for the decision-making process of college library services.
- Maintain and improve the CCLA communications and publications program.
Research, evaluate, implement and communicate information about new and emerging technologies.
Specific objectives:
- Research and develop web-based technologies that meet the needs of the library users independent of time and location.
- Evaluate, acquire, test, and prototype appropriate additional library technology and information products that enhance library staff productivity and services.
- Investigate and implement suitable options supporting college library digitization needs.
- Investigate and implement technologies that improve LINCCWeb interoperability with local campus systems and provide visibility within the larger web environment.
- Investigate and implement technologies that enhance user self-sufficiency.
- Communicate information and stimulate dialog concerning new and emerging technologies.
Provide library advocacy and leadership for issues of concern to college libraries.
Specific objectives:
- Continue the Division of Florida Colleges' biennial assessment process reviewing the products, services and programs of CCLA.
- Continue the leadership and advocacy role of CCLA in support of college library and learning resource issues.
- Market and promote the library as an integral part of the instructional process in the college educational experience.
- Maximize efforts to guarantee the continuance of funding for state-level support of CCLA activities.
- Advocate for college library and information needs being met within the Florida education governance structure.
- Provide information and fiscal data to support local institutional needs.
- Utilize standardized management and financial data to support assessment, advocacy, and accreditation issues.
- Continue efforts seeking adequate funding to provide library resources and staffing to the college students of Florida.
Enhance library services and resources through mutually beneficial alliances.
Specific objectives:
- Facilitate the collaborative integration of web-based information resources across the delivery systems within the Florida education governance structure.
- Explore ways to maximize the Ex Libris technologies.
- Continue to work with the State University System and State Library in the development of mutually beneficial products and services. Partner with agencies, organizations, and vendors, as appropriate, for collaborative development and enhancement of library and information resources and services.
- Seek alternative funding opportunities to enhance services and resources.
- Act as agent for cooperative purchasing and licensing initiatives.
