| Q: | | What is the new LINCC ILL module? |
| A: | | LINCC ILL enables statewide borrowing and lending of materials between LINCC libraries. The new Aleph v.18 software has incorporated the ILL module into the client. Unlike Aleph version 17, in which the ILL module functioned as a series of web pages, the v.18 ILL module is part of the client that is installed on your workstation. It's accessed and used in the same way as the LINCC Circulation, Cataloging, and Acquisitions/Serials modules, and supports the LINCC resource sharing activities currently in practice by the 28 community colleges. |
| Q: | | What are the advantages of an integrated ILL module? |
| A: | | Integrating the ILL module into the client offers a number of advantages, including:
- Improved response time, since there is no longer the need to reload web pages during activity
- Improved searching ability, including the Search tab which is present in the other modules
- Improved integration with Circulation
- Improved display of requests, including screen resizing and filtering
|
| Q: | | How does the module differ from that in Aleph version 17? |
| A: | | The Aleph v.18 ILL module takes on the appearance of the other modules in the client. Navigation is a bit different, but the screen layout is a similar tripartite view. The toolbar has changed, and a series of drop-down menus have been added. The changes are minor, though, and the new module can be quickly learned. The concepts and workflow in the module remain the same. |
| Q: | | Has access to the LINCC ILL module changed? |
| A: | | Library staff will log into the Aleph client on their workstation as they do for Circulation or Cataloging. The LINCC ILL module is included in the client, so it can be accessed by selecting "Interlibrary Loan 2" at login, or by clicking the globe icon at the bottom of the window in one of the other modules. |
